The first thing he felt was the pain which rushed up to his find and conquering all his thoughts, numbing them. Casimir winced, he brow knitting togther to form a painful scowl. Then he felt the cool bandages around his torso and right shoulder. They were cold on his skin yet he knew they were stopping from revealing the painful truth. He knew that half his skin was gone and burnt and now all was left was red blotchs. Weakly reaching out a hand he felt the cool metal poll next to his hospital bed. He was on a drip, for morphine probably. So he was in such a critical situation that they needed to put morphone on him. How terrible. Yet then what came over him was the worse. The one thought that had always haunted him whislt he was in pain.
Cautionsly he opened his eyes, hoping to see the light and the hospital bed. A usual sight. But nothing. He knew his eyes were open he was sure of that. but he couldn't see anything. Darkness and nothing else. It was certain type of darkness which was always there, liek if some one had closed his eyes forever. But now he was sure he had them open. Positive but he couldn't see anything. "I'm blidn," he murmured to himself, murmuring in dispair for then anything else.

"Could you please let me in?!" Cat said angrily to the receptionist at the front desk of the hospital. She was there alone, because Jase and Scarlette had stayed at the hospital all night. She would have too, but Albino had forbidden her to leave the castle. The reason why she was so desperate to come down was because she felt responsible for getting them all into so much trouble. It was her idea to explore the forest anyways.
The receptionist shook her head. "I'm sorry, but visiting hours are only between 2pm and 4pm. You'll have to come back later."
Cat angrily slammed her hand down on the desk. "Lady, I came down here all the way from Bogden Hollow on a bus to see my friend. I left after school and wI have to be back by tomorrow morning otherwise I will definitely be expelled. Could you just let me in for a few minutes at least?"

"Casimir!" two voices cried simultaneously, those of Jase and Scarlette. Despite the docotor's attempts to keep them away, they had both stayed by his side all night, barely speaking a word to each other, both too lost in worry to think of much else. Jase could think of nothing to say, guilt was eating him up from the inside, threatening to tear right through his heart. He had done this, he was directly responsible for Casimir's condition, that would haut him for the rest of his life. he stayed silent, let Scarlette talk. She took Casimir's hand, the one that wasn't badly burned, tears streaming down her cheeks. She knew he couldn't see her, couldn't see how much it pained her to see him like this, she only wished she could make it better. She had wanted to kill Jase, to make him pay for what he had done, she would have, if Casimir had asked her to, but somehow she doubted it would help. "Love, I'm so sorry," she whispered hoarsely.

Casimir's head titled slightly as he felt some one grasp his hand. he frwoned, his hair falling in front of his brow as he tried to recognize that voice. It was ever-so firmiliar, but his mind wasn't working so itwas hard to idetify anyone. He could hardly see and his hearing but not very good, yet he knew that woudl wear off in time...but the blindness that was would always linger. his books, his archery skills, his fencing skils, were all lost. All lost as now he could not even see the person who was clutching his hand and was there right in front of him. Finally, he spoke, his voice low and husky, hoarse. "Scarlette?" he asked, frowning ina puzzled manner.

"Yeah, Jase is here too," She said, unable to keep the bitterness out of her voice as she mentioned the name of the one who had caused all this. Jase could not even meet her poisonous look, and he had to fight so hard to keep the tears from spilling out of his overflowing eyes.

Casimir blinked a few times and lowered his head as if he were bowing it. Slowly memories started to come back into his find. it was all in a blur and ever-so quickly. He pondered over thoese memories. the fire. the forest. Everything. He was silent a moment before his pale, lifeless-like eyes wondered up to look at the direction which he thought jase was in. "You enver answered my question, jase; do you smoke?" he asked.

"Yes...sometimes," Jase replied, his voice laden with guilt. he could not take his eyes of the sightless eyes that sought him, but would never again see as once they had before. "Idiot..." Scarlette muttered, although from the look in her eyes and her tone of voice, she was not just referring to the fact that he smoked.

Casimir forced a weak and weary grin. "That explains the lighter," he murmured and started to fiddle around with a lock of his hair. He was trying to get accustomed to this sightless life. It was going to hard. It reminded him though of this doctor on a tv series. one grumpy and depressed. He knew he was going to probably end up like him. But he's cool. he liked him. His eyes wondered upa agin, blinking slightly and sighed. "THanks for you guys for coming," he said awkwardly and squeezed Scarlette's hand. He wanted to kiss her but he couldn't see her face. It was hard to kiss without seeing the person you wanted to kiss.

Overwhelmed by her own emotions, Scarlette leaned down, her eyes meeting his sightless ones, and kissed him gently. She didn't know if she was causing him pain, she didn't know how bad the burns on his face were, she only wanted to tell him how much she cared. Her tears rolled down the sides of her cheeks and clung to the edge of her lips. She left traces of tears on his cracking lips, but she still couldn't make it better.

Casimir returned her kiss yet he could hardly move as he was on a drip. he felt her soft lips against his and thus felt a flow of emotions, ones of warmth and care. Yet when she moved away he turned to look at what he thought was her and smiled gratefully. "Thank you," he whispered hoarsly but then broke into a cough. "sorry" he said hoarsly and turned to Jase, well who he thought was jase and raised an eyebrow. "You haven't been saying much?" he mumbled and blinked.

"I did this to you," Jase whispered, his voice cracking with emotion. He recovered himself and carried on, feeling the fire of Scarlette's hate on the back of his neck the whole time. "I don't deserve to be alive, it should have happenned to me. I blinded you, I nearly killed you," he said, breathing rapidly, panicking at the sound of his own words, they were too terrible to be true. And yet they were true. They always would be.

He looked at him sullenly, a frown on his face. "Yet i was the one to suffer for your mistakes. You read the lord of the rings no? "Hope is kindled", says Gandalf when he sees the becons light up in the third book. The same thing here. It is lit up, except for...i'm the one to have suffured, but so did Davey. And now shall i forgive you, that is the question? WHat do you think, Jase? Should i?" he asked raising an eyebrow, sounding like this ancient philosopher.

Jase shook his head, too cowardly to even look at Casimir. "This isn't a book, Cas, it's so much more than that. What I've done to you. I've ruined your life, so don't you dare forgive me," he replied, anger against himself welling up inside him.

Casimir felt him turn away, yet his sightless eyes remained on him. "Indeed you have but just maybe my sight might return," he said and forced himself to lean forward. "You're a coward though. How can you live like this? So what i'm going to ask you is to forgive yourself and i'll decide whether or not i shall forgive you," he pointed out wisely.

The receptionist shook her head. "I'm sorry, it's against hospital policies," she told the teenaged girl who's features showed rage. Cat usually wasn't this rude, but some things just had to be done. Then an idea struck her. She tried to mellow herself down so that she could act properly and took a deep breath before she started her monologue.
"Ma'am, I'm sorry. It's just that, well, he's my best friend and - " she took a breath and concentrated on trying to cry. Today it wasn't that hard. "Well, ma'am, you must remember being a teenager, right? I mean, I like him SO much and I really need to see him right now. He was like... a brother ... to me..." she threw in a sniffle for good measure. By now the tears were pouring down her face. "And... I'll never get to tell him how I feel... if he dies..."
The nurse was shocked at this outburst. Inside, she was a very compassionate woman. So, she felt for this little girl who was obviously in much grief. "Sweetie, calm down. I'll let you in for a little bit..." she said, consoling Cat. Cat let out a teary smile; that had probably been the hardest acting job she had had in a while. The nurse let her in, saying 'It's in the Burn Unit, room 238A."
As soon as she turned the corner, Cat wiped her eyes and tried to compose herself, to get back into herself, and not a character. She sat down on a chair, taking a quick breath in and out to calm down. Then, she turned up some stairs and made her way to the room.
