St. Gertrude's Academy for Ghouls, est. 1271
St. Lucian's Academy of the Bereft, est. 1728
St. Gertrude's Academy for Ghouls was established in order to instruct young females of the Unseelie Court when a sudden motion away from the traditional values of "the men go terrorize the world, you stay home and take care of the children" from the Unseelie was at its peak.
Though it was established during the Dark Ages of humankind, this was a flourishing period for the Unseelie Court. Their powers and influences were great upon man and they were not only celebrated but feared by many. They enjoyed several hundred years, some subcultures even were able to gain a few thousand years, of popularity until the Age of Enlightenment when mankind turned to logic and reason, and their mythological ideals dissipated. The Unseelie Court grew out of power with the Overworld and many were lost to lack of belief. Clap if you believe in fairies! No one clapped. So, clearly without need for education for their girls, the administrators of St. Gertrude's decided to shut down the school until further notice.
It sat in literal Limbo for hundreds of years.
At the beginning of the 18th century, interest was rekindled in their world, and with a need for reviving knowledge in the ways of their culture, the Unseelie Court demanded St. Gertrude's reopen with the new addition of a counterpart school for boys called St. Lucian's Academy of the Bereft. There was a bit of a battle that ensued when half of St. Gertrude's campus was "taken away and given to the men" but they came to an agreement and a truce when the girls were assured there would be social events. Due to funding mishaps, no amenities were attached to the boys' dormitories in Sebastian Hall, so an out building was later constructed after one too many incidents of boys sharing the girls' facilities.
Unique to the Academies [St. Gertrude's, actually] is a long-standing tradition of cultural education, manners for interacting with any member of the Unseelie Court no matter how different from yourself, as well as the basics for human interaction.
The Twin Academies are ideal for your young spook or undead adolescent. Don’t worry. They’re safe. Even from the secret societies and gangs that make up half of the student body.
[[the GHOUL school does not take itself half as seriously as it may seem. We love being funny and absurd at GS. Our Lycans are weak against Hello Kitty for crying out loud. For a satirical tongue-in-cheek forum that makes light of school-based games and the entire horror genre, try the GHOUL school. Let’s have FUN.]
